Inflammation

Most people think of inflammation as the byproduct of a muscular injury, tendonitis or bursitis.  A large, puffy, swollen body part is what usually accompanies these conditions.  There is another type of inflammation.  And in the overall scheme of things, this type of inflammation is much more important to the health of the human body.  Chronic inflammation is the shared common link in many health conditions.  Conditions such as obesity, diabetes, heart disease and cancer.  The less overall inflammation in the body, the less likely you are to suffer from adverse health conditions.  The good news is that chronic inflammation is influenced by diet.  There are foods such as high fructose corn syrup, soy, processed vegetable oils (trans fats), and other chemical additives that trigger inflammation in the body.  And there are other foods that reduce inflammation in the body, balancing the unique body chemistry that promotes health.  The top inflammation reducing foods are: 1. Omega 3 fats.  These are the fat’s that come from fish oil such as wild caught salmon. 2. Leafy green vegetables like kale, spinach, chard and collard greens. 3. Blueberries. 4. Matcha and Tulsi tea. 5. Fermented foods such as kefir, kimchee, miso, tempeh, pickles, sauerkraut and olives. 6. Shitake mushrooms. 7. Garlic. In addition, there are a few very powerful spices that should be added to the daily diet that have strong anti-inflammatory properties.  These spices are:  Cloves, Cinnamon, Jamaican allspice, Apple pie spice, Oregano, Pumpkin pie spice mixture, Marjoram, Sage, Thyme, Gourmet Italian spice, Curcumin and Turmeric.  If you add these foods and spices to your diet, while replacing processed foods and foods with refined sugars with organic and fresh whole foods, you will have taken a major step towards building health in your body.

Chiropractic Thought for the Week:  Chiropractic Philosophy.  “Life” within the human body needs to be functioning at one hundred percent efficiency at all times to maintain a normal, healthy body.  It is vital that the body is capable of performing all of the functions that are part of normal living. Chiropractors realize that failure in a bodily function or abnormality in an organ is often found in dysfunction of nerve flow. Chiropractic analysis can locate areas of nerve flow disruption and their correction results in the return to normal function of that “Life” force within the body. ~ Dr. Sanford Black
