Chiropractic: Part of the pregnancy team

Chiropractic care of a patient during pregnancy is one of the most rewarding aspects of being a chiropractor.  Pregnancy is the most natural of nature’s acts.  It is the incredible process of how we all came to be.  Human beings were having babies long before doctors existed. Chiropractic care helps to keep pregnancy as natural as possible by virtue of its drug free approach to the care of the pregnant frame (hips, pelvis and lower back, including sciatica).  The pregnant female body will develop aches and discomforts as the 9 months of pregnancy progress.  Chiropractic care relaxes the muscles and frees up the nerves allowing pregnant women to feel less stress in their bodies.  And this is done without harmful drugs and medications. In addition, spinal adjustments improve nerve flow to the uterous, ensuring that the vital communication from the mom’s body to the baby is open and clear of interference.  Another added benefit is that a properly trained chiropractor can reduce constraint on ligaments supporting the uterous, this allows the developing baby to move freely and helps to avoid a breech birth position.  Lastly, chiropractic care for pregnant women is completely safe for the mother-to-be and the unborn child.  In addition to the traditional methods of chiropractic care, new chiropractic techniques for pregnancy have been developed that avoid the familiar twisting and popping noises of the spinal joints.  Chiropractic and pregnancy is a natural fit.  Chiropractors along with obstetricians and midwives make up the ultimate natural childbirth team.
