Joint Health With Hyaluronic Acid, Plus CDC Covid-19 Contradictions

Hyaluronic acid (also known as hyaluronan) is a polysaccharide found in nearly every cell in your body. Its main function is to reduce friction in your joints to keep them moving smoothly, as well as keeping your eyes lubricated.  It's also a critical part of your skin, acting as a natural support for your dermis, delivering nutrients and keeping it moist by pulling water from your body. In fact, your skin uses up most of the hyaluronic acid, accounting for half of the amount.

Your body can produce hyaluronic acid through an enzyme called "hyaluronic acid synthase." The enzyme combines two sugars, D-glucuronic acid and N-acetyl glucosamine, to produce the acid.

During the 1940s, it was discovered that rooster combs become rich in hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is commonly injected by orthopedic doctors in arthritic  joints like the knees and the injections are referred to as Rooster Shots.

There is also oral gel hyaluronic acid that is systemic, meaning the gel is absorbed in the body and all of the body’s skeletal joints benefit from the lubricating effect.  The most popular brand is a product called Baxyl, available in doctor’s office (mine).

Aside from manufacturing your own hyaluronic acid, you can get it from food as well. Grass fed meats, especially pork, poultry and beef, are rich in this acid. Consuming bone broth made from these meats is also a beneficial way of getting this acid.

Furthermore, certain foods may help synthesize and optimize the production of hyaluronic acid in your body. Foods rich in vitamin C, such as spices and citrus fruits, are notable options. Magnesium-rich foods are beneficial options as well. Dark leafy greens, nuts, beans, avocados and bananas are your best choices in this regard. This is because magnesium deficiency has been linked to hyaluronic acid abnormalities.

Covid-19 Update:  When the Covid-19 vaccine first was given emergency use authorization, the vaccine manufacturers, Dr. Fauci and a majority of talking head news people reported that the vaccine protects people from severe cases of Covid-19 and keeps people out of the hospital (very true).  It was also reported on at that time that the vaccine did not prevent one from catching the virus and spreading the virus.  I did a blurb in my March 28th health tip mentioning it.  Here it is: “The Moderna and Pfizer vaccine were designed to keep people from getting severe cases of the virus and ending up in the hospital, their effect on transmission according to Fauci and all the rest was nill or not understood.  According to the Journal Nature, the vaccines are extremely effective at preventing symptomatic disease, but it is still unclear whether they protect people from becoming infected, or from spreading the virus to others. Then gradual the facts about not preventing spread or catching the disease once vaccinated was “forgotten” and we were told that everyone must get the vaccine to prevent spread and catching as well as severe cases and hospitalizations. Now, as of 7/28, it is reported that the CDC had internal documents restating the facts about viral spread.  Internal CDC documents reported on this week said that fully vaccinated people are able to get and spread the virus at the same rate as unvaccinated people. “‘In some sense, vaccination is now about personal protection — protecting oneself against severe disease. Herd immunity is not relevant as we are seeing plenty of evidence of repeat and breakthrough infections in vaccinated people.’” - Jeffrey Shaman, a Columbia University epidemiologist, wrote in an email after reviewing the CDC slides.

A CDC study reported on in the Washington Post found that ¾ of the people infected with Covid-19 in Massachusetts were fully vaccinated.

Good News For Children and Covid-19:  A United Kingdom study found that during the first 12 months of the pandemic, 99.995% of the children that contracted Covid-19 survived the virus.  In the United States, researchers at John Hopkin’s University found when analyzing data from April 2020 – August 2020, that all of the children that died in the USA had pre-existing health conditions such as cancer.  The CDC estimates the infection fatality rate from COVID-19 among children 0 to 17 years old is 20 per 1 million.  While all deaths are tragic, overwhelming and horribly sad, these stats point out that healthy children that catch Covid-19, survive and will acquire natural anti-bodies and immunity. Concerning Covid-19, as with the flu (children and adults), there is always an outlier case where a healthy person passes away for no apparent reason.  These cases are not understood, but thankfully happen very rarely.

Atlantic County, NJ and Covid-19:  Atlantic County has 311 new cases over the last two week period, up from 258 cases the prior 2 weeks. Atlantic County has had 2 deaths in the last two week period, up from zero. In the USA, 344 million doses of the vaccine have been given out.  164 million are fully vaccinated, representing 49.6% of the population. 35 million people have contracted the Covid-19 virus in the USA.

Vaccine Informed Consent Information:   Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System data released 7/29/21 by the CDC showed a total of 518,770 reports of adverse reactions from all age groups following COVID vaccines, including 11,940 deaths and serious injuries spiked 14,717 this week to a total of 63,000 between Dec. 14, 2020 and July 29, 2021.  VAERS is the primary government-funded system for reporting adverse vaccine reactions in the U.S. Reports submitted to VAERS require further investigation before a causal relationship can be confirmed. The Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) database contains information on unverified reports of adverse events following immunization. Reports are accepted from anyone and can be submitted electronically.   According to the CDC, as of July 24th 2021,   10,991 fully vaccinated people have been hospitalized or died from Covid-19 infection.  This week’s data for 12- to 17-year-olds show 15,086 total adverse events, including 909 rated as serious and 16 reported deaths among 12- to 17-year-olds.  2,223 cases of anaphylaxis, 394 reports of myocarditis and 72 reports of blood clotting disorders in the 12-17 year old age group. This week’s data for pregnancy /prenatal vaccination shows pregnant women had 2,857 adverse events reported including 1072 reports of miscarriage or premature birth. As of July 29th, 344 million doses of the vaccine were administered.
