Four Factors That Will Shorten Your Life Span

Four factors that will shorten your lifespan are excessive sugar consumption, artificial sweeteners, trans fats, and vitamin D deficiency.  A diet high in sugar (which includes processed fructose and grains) causes a host of health problems that can take years off your life, including obesity, diabetes, and heart disease.  Many mistakenly opt for artificial sweeteners to keep their sugar consumption in check, not realizing just how harmful this trade-off may be. Contrary to industry claims, research over the last 30 years—including several large scale prospective cohort studies—have shown that artificial sweeteners stimulate appetite and increase cravings for carbs.  They also produce a variety of metabolic dysfunctions that promote fat storage and weight gain.  Research also shows that artificial sweeteners such as aspartame actually worsen insulin sensitivity to a greater degree than sugar!  Trans fat, found in partially hydrogenated vegetable oils, clogs your arteries and promotes heart disease. Moreover, trans fats prevent the synthesis of prostacyclin, which is necessary to keep your blood flowing. When your arteries cannot produce prostacyclin, blood clots form, and you may succumb to sudden death. Trans fat has also been linked to dementia. Optimizing your vitamin D stores can go a long way toward preventing disease and living a longer, healthier life. Researchers have pointed out that increasing levels of vitamin D3 among the general population could prevent chronic diseases that claim nearly one million lives throughout the world each year. Compelling evidence actually suggests optimizing your vitamin D can reduce your risk of death from any cause. At this point, the known health benefits of vitamin D number in the hundreds, if not thousands, in part due to the fact that it influences about 10 percent of all your genes.

Thought for the Week:  If you don't take care of yourself, the undertaker will overtake that responsibility for you. ~Terri Guillemets

Chiropractic Thought for the Week:  The nervous system controls every single function in the body.  You name it, the nervous system is in charge of it. Just to give you a hint of the gigantic list of functions that the nervous system handles, here are a few.  Body chemistry (this means all hormonal control), digestion, cardiovascular (heart and lungs), reproductive organs, eyes, ears, skin, muscles and the holy grail of our systems, the immune system.  Here are two examples of things that happen in our body that go unnoticed on a daily basis.  The growth of our hair and finger and toe nails.  Yes, even this is controlled by the nervous system.  When the word everything is used to describe what the nervous system does, it actually does mean everything.  The nervous system is a communication network where the equipment of this network is the brain, spinal cord, spinal nerves and all the millions of connecting nerves. Think of this network like a safety pin.  The top of the pin is the brain, the bottom is the body.  Communication from the brain runs down one side of the safety pin to the body and then the body sends the communication back to the brain up the other side of the safety pin.  Here is where chiropractic becomes an important part of nervous system function.  If you open the safety pin, there is a gap and the pin is not connected.  This same type of gap can occur in the body.  The brain sends messages down the spinal cord, out the spinal nerves to the body parts.  This is how the body works.  If there is a “gap” in this communication, the body cannot function at 100% and there will be a loss of health.  This “gap” occurs in the spinal column when the spinal bones are not aligned properly.  The misalignment or subluxation of the spinal bones disrupts the nerve communication by altering the shape of the opening in between the spinal bones where the nerve comes out from.  The change in shape of the boney opening puts pressure on the spinal nerve and disrupts nerve flow just as if you put your foot on a garden hose flowing with water.  The nervous system is responsible for the health of the body, and chiropractors remove disturbances and irritations to the nerves improving the way the nervous system works by performing specific spinal adjustments that correct the spinal alignment and open up the neural space.

Covid-19 News:  In a pre-print study from Cornell University, An analysis 10 drugs used for treating covid-19 found that ivermectin was the most effective drug candidate against the Omicron variant. The testing included Nirmatrelvir (Paxlovid), which is the new protease inhibitor for which the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) provided an emergency use authorization against COVID in December 2021. Pfizer released a Nirmatrelvir which cost the U.S. taxpayers $5.29 billion or $529 per course of treatment and received an EUA despite the availability of a similar drug that has proven to be more effective and is much cheaper.

Vaccine Informed Consent Information:   Informed consent means that the person to be vaccinated has to be informed about all the risks, the risk benefit ratios, the potential dangers and what is known about side effects. For example, informed consent takes place in all drug advertising.  Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System data released 2/11/22 by the CDC showed a total of 1,119,063 adverse vaccine reactions reported from all age groups following COVID vaccines, including 23,990 deaths. Serious injuries reported in this time period totaled 192,517. New Data for 5 to 11 years olds:  8,173 reported adverse reactions, 179 reported as serious, 3 deaths.  This week’s data for 12- to 17-year-olds show 29,154 total adverse events, including 1,675 rated as serious and 38 reported deaths among 12- to 17-year-olds.  Severe reactions in all age groups of anaphylaxis include 2,323 people, 3,992 reports of myocarditis and 13,102 reports of blood clotting disorders and 1592 heart attacks.  This week’s data for pregnancy /prenatal vaccination shows pregnant women had over 5086 adverse events reported including 1,635 reports of miscarriage or premature birth.  VAERS is the primary government-funded system for reporting adverse vaccine reactions in the U.S. Reports submitted to VAERS require further investigation before a causal relationship can be confirmed. The Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) database contains information on unverified reports of adverse events following immunization. Reports are accepted from anyone and can be submitted electronically.

Atlantic County, NJ and Covid-19:  Covid cases have decreased from 1,395 new cases in a 14 day span to 717 new cases in the last two weeks. Our 7 day average cases reported is 51 cases per day.  Atlantic County has had 31 deaths in the last two weeks.    On 2/18/2022, there were a total of 4,966 people admitted in all of New Jersey’s hospitals for care of Covid-19 infections.  Atlantic County has had 67,558 total cases of Covid-19.
