Dangers of Food Additives, Pregancy /Prenatal Care, Covid Update

Growing up, I was a huge fan of Mad magazine, the monthly comic satire.  The lead character from Mad magazine once said, “We are living in a world today where lemonade is made from artificial flavors and furniture polish is made from real lemons.”  ~Alfred E. Newman.   As we, the food consumers, become more health conscious and make healthy food choices, we are starting to pay attention to processed ingredients.  We are choosing foods with less sugar, organic ingredients and healthier fats.  There is one aspect to processed food that does not receive a lot of attention.  Food additives.  Over the next few weeks, I will be going over some of the more dangerous food additives to be on the lookout for.  Additives are used in food processing to slow spoilage, prevent fats and oils from going rancid, prevent fruits from turning brown, and fortify or enrich the food with synthetic vitamins and minerals to replace the natural ones that were lost during processing. They’re also added to improve taste, texture, and appearance, as many processed foods would be as dull and bland as cardboard without some artificial help. Unfortunately, many of these additives have been linked to health concerns, while others have been granted “Generally Recognized as Safe” (GRAS) status without pre-market review or approval.  The two additives, I will discuss this week are theobromine and artificial colors.  Theobromine is found in chocolate.  Theobromine has the same effect as caffeine.  Sadly, it is also the reason that chocolate is highly toxic to dogs.  The FDA is currently investigating the negative reproductive and developmental effects found in animals and how it may apply to humans.  That is good news, because food manufacturers have petitioned the FDA too add theobromine to bread, cereal, sports drinks and other foods.  Next on my list is artificial colors.  Every year, food manufacturers pour 15 million pounds of artificial food dyes into US foods.  Nine of the food dyes currently approved for use in the US are linked to health issues ranging from cancer and hyperactivity to allergy-like reactions.  Red # 40, which is the most widely used dye, may accelerate the appearance of immune system tumors in mice, while also triggering hyperactivity in children.  Blue # 2, used in candies, beverages, pet foods and more, was linked to brain tumors. And Yellow 5, used in baked goods, candies, cereal, and more, may not only be contaminated with several cancer-causing chemicals, but it's also linked to hyperactivity, hypersensitivity, and other behavioral effects in children. Even the innocuous-sounding caramel color, which is widely used in brown soft drinks, may cause cancer due to 4-methylimidazole (4-MeI), a chemical byproduct formed when certain types of caramel coloring are manufactured. Bet you can’t wait till next week!

Chiropractic Thought of the Week:  Health comes from the inside out, not the outside in.  Instead of reaching for a pain pill to mask a symptom, correct what is causing the problem and the body will heal.  Chiropractic works from the inside out!

Pregnancy / Prenatal Chiropractic Care Information:  The above chiropractic thought for the week applies directly for overall health, but also stresses the point why chiropractic care is an important part of the prenatal, pregnancy care team.  When pregnant, the emphasis is on what you put into your body and how it can effect the development of the unborn child.  That’s why proper nutrition is paramount and the avoidance of any harmful medications, drugs and even over processed foods is the gold standard for prenatal pregnancy care. With chiropractic care during pregnancy, there is no treating of symptoms with drugs or medications.  It’s all about allowing the pregnant body to function normally, with proper spinal and pelvic alignment, free of nerve interference.  No drugs or medications, 100% natural prenatal pregnancy health care.  Please visit my YouTube channel Doc J Zimmerman for my pregnancy playlist.

FDA Vaccine Meeting:   During a meeting to vote on approval for the Covid-19 vaccine for children under age 12 on Oct. 26, by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s vaccine panel, the FDA listened to concerns from medical experts. One expert, Dr. Jessica Rose, a viral immunologist and biologist, said tens of thousands of reports have been submitted to the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System for children ages 0 to 18, and that 60 children have died — 23 of them were under  2 years old.  Based on CDC data presented during the meeting, among children 5 to <12 years of age, there have been approximately 1.8 million confirmed and reported COVID cases since the beginning of the pandemic, and 143 COVID-related deaths in the U.S. through Oct. 14. Children with underlying medical conditions, such as asthma, diabetes and obesity, made up two-thirds of severe COVID cases.  Dr. Josh Guetzkow, a senior lecturer at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem also spoke at the meeting and said expanding the Emergency Use Authorization to children is unnecessary, premature and will do more harm than good.  Guetzkow said there is no emergency for children, especially healthy ones whose risk of severe illness and death is “almost nil.(as per a Johns Hopkins Medical University Study)”  Guetzkow said kids with pre-existing conditions and prior COVID infections were not included in Pfizer’s child vaccine safety study, so including them in the EUA is negligence.

Bizarre News:  In papers filed this week in the Federal Court, Northern District of Texas, The FDA has asked a federal judge for permission to hold off releasing data on Pfizer’s COVID vaccine clinical trials until 2076.   In August and immediately following approval of the vaccine, more than 30 academics, professors, and scientists from this country’s most prestigious universities requested the data and information submitted to the FDA by Pfizer to license its COVID-19 vaccine. The FDA never released the data.  In September, a lawsuit asking for the data was filed and last week the FDA asked the federal judge to hold off on releasing the data for another 55 years.

More Bizarre News:  The Centers for Disease Control (CDC), in response to a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request, said it has no record of an individual previously infected with COVID becoming reinfected and transmitting the virus to others. . the revelation that the CDC does not collect data on people who have acquired natural immunity to the virus raises questions about vaccine mandates, specifically how the government, or employers can mandate vaccines for people who may not need them.  Over 81 peer reviewed studies have found that the naturally immune have far greater than 99% protection from having COVID, and this immunity does not wane. In contrast, the COVID vaccine provides, at best, 95% protection and this immunity wanes rapidly.

Atlantic County, NJ and Covid-19:  Atlantic County has 733 new cases of Covid-19 over the last two week period, up from 699 cases the prior 2 weeks. Our 7 day average cases reported 52 cases per day.  Atlantic County has had 9 deaths in the last two week period.    On 11/18/2021, there were a total of 755 people admitted in all of New Jersey’s hospitals for care of Covid-19 infections, up from 697 a week ago.  In the USA, 448 million doses of the vaccine have been given out.  195,713 million people are fully vaccinated, 60% of the population. 47 million people have contracted the Covid-19 virus in the USA.  Atlantic County has had 40,606 total cases of Covid-19.

Vaccine Informed Consent Information:   Informed consent means that the person to be vaccinated has to be informed about all the risks, the risk benefit ratios, the potential dangers and what is known about side effects. For example, informed consent takes place in all drug advertising.  Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System data released 11/12/21 by the CDC showed a total of 894,145 reports of adverse reactions from all age groups following COVID vaccines, including 18,853 deaths. Serious injuries reported in this time period totaled 139,126 between Dec. 14, 2020 and 11/12/2021.  This week’s data for 12- to 17-year-olds show 23,105 total adverse events, including 1,429 rated as serious and 30 reported deaths among 12- to 17-year-olds.  Severe reactions in all age groups of anaphylaxis include 2,125 people, 3,145 reports of myocarditis and 11,058 reports of blood clotting disorders. In the irony department, “CDC strongly recommends COVID-19 vaccination either before or during pregnancy because the benefits of vaccination outweigh known or potential risks,” the agency said in a health alert.  This week’s data for pregnancy /prenatal vaccination shows pregnant women had over 4,362 adverse events reported including 1,376 reports of miscarriage or premature birth.  VAERS is the primary government-funded system for reporting adverse vaccine reactions in the U.S. Reports submitted to VAERS require further investigation before a causal relationship can be confirmed. The Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) database contains information on unverified reports of adverse events following immunization. Reports are accepted from anyone and can be submitted electronically.
