Chiropractic Health Care

Not many people know this, but the 1st chiropractic spinal adjustment had nothing to do with relieving back or neck pain.

As a matter of fact, the first chiropractic adjustment at the time, was not performed by a chiropractor, as there was no such thing in 1895.

Daniel Palmer from Davenport, Iowa practiced a form of healing that involved touch.  In today's world it would be described as energy healing / therapeutic touch similar to the massage technique called Reiki .

Dr. Palmer had a patient who had gradually lost his hearing over the course of 18 yrs.  The patient described to Palmer, that one day he had felt a pop in his neck and from that moment on, the patient had slowly lost his hearing.

Dr. Palmer examined the patient's neck and could feel that one of the bones seemed to be out of alignment.  Palmer felt a boney lump that was not present on the opposite side of the neck.  Palmer theorized that the pop in the patient's neck caused the neck bone to move out of alignment.

Dr. Palmer then applied a controlled, specific force to the area in the neck that was misaligned.  Dr. Palmer adjusted the patient's neck.

What happened next was the amazing part.  The patient's hearing came back to the point that the patient could hear a ticking watch.

The first chiropractic adjustment had nothing to do with back or neck pain.  It was all about restoring hearing to a deaf man.

Over the years chiropractic has become the world's largest, all natural, holistic health care that focuses on the body's innate ability to heal itself by freeing spinal nerves from the pressure created by misaligned or subluxated vertebra.

Chiropractic therefore is not limited to neck or back pain.  Chiropractic care is about improving function in the body, increasing performance and improving health.  Along the way, chiropractic can also help you with those neck and back aches.
