Dear Practice Members:
Chiropractic is a philosophy, a science and art form. The science part is neurology, anatomy and physiology. The art form is the adjusting techniques utilized by the individual chiropractors. The part that I want to take a few sentences to talk about is the philosophy.
The philosophy is what made my mother take her healthy, non-symptomatic family to the chiropractor. The philosophy is what made me want to become a chiropractor. The philosophy is what, if we as the chiropractor have done our job correctly, makes you want to get your spine adjusted on a regular basis. The philosophy is a complete and utter understanding of the nervous system controlling function and thus health in the body. Nervous system function, nerve impulse flow through the spinal nerves, must be at 100% for your body to maximize health. And, as you are well aware, chiropractors correct subluxations, improving nerve flow to all of your vital systems, organs, tissues and cells in the body. Chiropractic is about restoring function, improving health and enhancing performance. It is a quality of life issue. For the highest quality of life, chiropractic is the natural choice.
Health Tip of the Month: This may seem like a cop out, but it is not. Yes, I have a million health tips I could give you, but the most important tip I could possibly write to you is Get your spine adjusted on a regular basis. It is the most important thing you can do for your health and your family. When the results from the research project in New Zealand come out concerning DNA repair rate, immune system function and chiropractic care, people will be beating our door down for adjustments. You better make sure your spot is reserved.
Movie Review: Phone booth. I thought this movie was incredible. Extremely well acted, severely emotional and a original plot that has never been done before. Colin Farrel from Dublin plays a New Yorker stuck in a phone booth. It was one of the best movies I saw this year. Oh, and my wife hated it. I must have been on a Colin Farrel kick, because I went and saw The Recruit. Colin plays a CIA agent recruited by Al Pacino. Action, plot twists. It was good. I saw How to lose a guy in Ten Days. I would have been out of there on day 2. Cute movie. Funny at times. I am a big X-Men fan. The movie X2 did not disappoint. I loved it. If you didn't see the first one, you better rent it. You will be lost without it. Great movie.
Pub Review: Messr Maguire's on the corner of O'Connell and the Liffy. This is a very beautiful 2 story pub with views of the river Liffy and the Spire. (The Spire is a huge spike sticking out of the ground on O'Connell St., it is the tallest structure in Dublin. Purely ornamental and for those who haven't been to Dublin in awhile, it was just finished.) Anyway, Messr Maguires is also a Microbrewery. They make a fine stout and an excellent room temperature bitter. If you are a Yankee, just be careful of the chicken wings. I asked the server how they were, she said great, I ordered. They didn't deep fry them, it seemed like they just took wings, baked them and sprinkled seasoning on them. Not what I was expecting. But I ate them, of course.
Church Review: Saint Bartholomew's Church. This church, I was informed was not very old.
1860 it was built. It is a Anglican/Episcopal church from the Church of Ireland, Clyde Rd. Dublin 4
I saw that they had an 8:30am service, right up my alley, so I went. I walked into the back of a dark, deserted, huge, beautiful church. I went up to the front, and to the side was a separate area with a few chairs and an alter. Two people were sitting there, so I went and sat down. A few moments later, a couple of more people joined us. Then the priest came out and gave us a full service, communion and all. It turns out the 8:30am is called a read. The big service was at 11:30am. It also turns out that this church is known for its music and even has web broadcasts. Check www.stbartholomews.ie for info.
That's all for this month. Please feel free to send me comments or concerns.
Thank you,
Dr. J. Zimmerman
