Dr. J's Short, But Informative Chiropractic Health Opinion:
Our purpose as chiropractors, other than providing quality chiropractic care, is to teach every person we come in contact with what chiropractic care is actually about. When I say to someone that chiropractic care isn't about the treatment of back pain, you could say funny looks usually develop. But, once we explain that chiropractic is about removing nerve interference, improving function in the body, enhancing performance and restoring and maintaining health, people understand. It is a very simple concept. The nervous system controls the body, if the nerve flow is disrupted, the body doesn't work as well as it should and cannot be at optimum health. Chiropractic care corrects nerve flow disruption and the body functions better and performance improves. Simple.
The number one question I receive all the time is, "why didn't my medical doctor tell me about this?" Well, the bottom line is they just don't know about it. When I was in chiropractic school, I never learned about dentistry. It is apples and oranges, two different topics. What frustrates me the most is some medical doctors know nothing about chiropractic, yet offer their opinion as to who chiropractic can be a benefit for. What they would realize if they understood what chiropractic care is all about, is that chiropractic is for everyone with a spine and a nervous system and for no other reason than just to be healthy. As Bob Zimmerman, I mean Dylan sang, "The times, they are a changing." More and more medical professionals are understanding the concept of a healthy nervous system and a healthy spine. So, we will do are part and continue to teach and you can do you part and help us help the world, by spreading the word of the health benefits of chiropractic care.
Health Tip Of The Month: Water, water every where.....Well, drink some. The body is made up of 70% water. It has to be replenished. If you are thirsty, it is already too late, Drink at regular intervals through out the day.
Rugby Report: A sad day. Ireland lost the Grandslam Championship to England. The first half was fun to watch, the second half was torture.
A Good day, Leinster and Munster both advanced to the semi-final in the Heineken Cup. It may be an all-Ireland final. Two Irish teams playing two French teams.
Church Review: I went to St. Patrick's Cathedral. This is the National Cathedral of Ireland. Very Famous authors are buried in Crypts outside of the Church. Jonathan Swift for one. The church was on the property since the 400's. The current building was built in 1240. Believe it or not, but the church refurbishment done ages ago, was paid for and sponsored by Arthur Guinness of you know where. What a lot of Americans may not know is that it is a Protestant church. It started out Catholic, but was changed when taken over by the English and it remains today part of the Church of Ireland, which is Protestant.
PUB Review: Frank Ryan & Son. Near the Liffey, north of O'Connell St. I looked in the window one Saturday, but the door was closed and locked. A minute later, a big, burly man named Frank opened the door. I went in and ordered a pint. I asked him why the door was locked. He said, "I'm not in the proper mood yet and I haven't decided if I am going to go back to bed or not." Nice place. Warm and cozy with a fire going on in the fireplace. I also asked him where I could lock my bike up and he said, "Just bring it in here and rest it along the bar."
That's all for this month. If you have any questions or comments please e-mail me.
