Dear Practice Members:
Nature: The inherent quality or basic constitution of a person or thing. Natural: Determined by nature, inborn, innate or instinctual, not artificial. Hmmm. Chiropractic: A natural system of health care utilizing the innate intelligence of the body to express the inherent qualities of health and wellness. Hmmm.
When I think of what chiropractic is, my thoughts are in the distinct minority. The 65% of the population that has never set foot into a chiropractors office thinks that chiropractic is just a "therapy" for neck and back pain. Chiropractic doctors have a responsibility to their community to say otherwise.
The most important aspect of chiropractic care is the impact on the neurological system. The spinal adjustment removes nerve irritations and nerve impulse disruptions improving the performance and function of every system, and organ in the body. Chiropractic adjustments enhance the expression of life and improve quality of life. The implications for overall health and wellness are astounding. A body free of nerve interference works better, functions better, performs better, plays better, relates better and is just healthier than a body that is not. Healthcare is pro-active it is not re-active. If you want to be healthy, you do the the things you need to do to stay that way. You do not wait for sickness or disease and then try and be healthy. Take care of yourself now. Chiropractic care is one of the most important things you can do for yourself and your family. Getting your and your family's spine checked when you both feel great is how to stay great.
Health Tip Of The Week: Omega 3 fatty acids is the name given to the oils in fish. They help block the over production of substances in the body that can cause blood clots, inflammation, and immune reactions. These oils have been shown to fight heart disease, help diabetics and even promote weight loss. Remember the old days, when your parents or grandparents forced Cod-liver oil on you? Well, guess what, they were right, it is very good for you. Carlson's Fish Oil and Carlson's Cod Liver Oil are very pure fish oil supplements and they do not taste bad, they are flavored with lemon. Take the Cod liver oil in the winter (high in vitamin D) and the Fish oil in the summer, unless you do not get any Sunshine, then take the Cod liver oil. Sunshine makes vitamin D in the body, too much is not good. So, hold your nose and swallow for the health of it.
Movie Review: Spider-man 2 was awesome. I loved it. I could watch it every day. Some people say it had too much of a love story and too much personal problems for the characters. I say the movie had a story. I think the action was balanced with a real story perfectly. And the love of Spiderman, when he was introduced in the 1960's comic books, was that he was unlike any other super hero of the time. Superheros were perfect. Spidey had problems. He couldn't pay the rent, he was picked on in school, he had girl trouble, his best friend suffered from drug addiction. People identified with him because he was not perfect. This movie does a great job showing that. Bourne Supremecy was terrific. This is the second in a trilogy, so you better jump on the band wagon. Rent Bourne Identity, then go to the movies. Matt Damon is the next super spy. 50 First Dates, I am a sucker for Adam Sandler movies and this one does not disapoint. Great chemistry between Sandler and Drew Barrymore. Very Funny.
Baby Review: Our girl is 3 lbs and 12 weeks from the due date, 10 weeks from a possible c-section date, (due to my wifes diabetes.) All and all, everything is going well. I can't tell you the name yet, because, I think Donna & Elysa want to have a pick the name contest in the office, so you can win free adjustments or something. But, everything is great, thanks for all the well wishes.
Fishing Report: Dr. Skip went on a long fishing trip in some rough seas in a shark contest. Well, Dr. Skip was so tired from his fishing trip he deicided not to weigh in the Mako Shark he caught. His tiredness must have distorted his vision and judgement, because this shark was bigger than he thought. Guess what? $8000.00 would have surely made up for the tiredness. But not on this day, as the cash went to a smaller shark. Tough luck Dr. Skip.
That's all for this month. Please send me any questions or comments. Thank you for allowing us to care for you and your family.
