Dear Practice Members:

I have always been quite fond of a smorgasboard.   Anytime that you can put me in front of a buffet table with a large variety of food and free reign to have at it as much as I can, I am a very happy person.  But, smorgasboards have their places, and not every meal can be a smorgasboard.  Unfortunately, sometimes chiropractic care can be like a smorgasboard.   Some practioners will give you a little of this and a little of that.   A rub here, an ice pack there.  Put a little ultra sound on that, heat this.  Work on that toe, give you a vitamin.  Muscle stim this and exercise that.  Watch out for the colonic, that may be next.

Our office prides itself on the fact that we give chiropractic spinal adjustments.  Chiropractic's primary focus is the correction of spinal subluxations.   Our goal is not to treat symptoms (an aspirin can do that), but to get the spine in the best possible position for the individual body.   The chiropractic adjustment has three priorities.   1.  Improve spinal nerve flow so that the brain can communicate with all of the systems and organs in the body, improving function and maintaining health.  2.  Prevent subluxations from causing boney degeneration, which can lead to permanent arthritic changes.  3.  Balance the spinal musculature, improving mobility.  That's it.  It is a simple as that.

Wellness care is the most important service we, as chiropractors, provide.   Regular spinal adjustments improve performance in all aspects of life.  Health, work, play, sports and family life are all positively effected by regular spinal adjustments.  Improved nerve flow and balanced musculature are two of the most important things needed for a greater quality of life.  In some chiropractic offices, a "smorgasboard" may be standard, but in our office, the "main course" is all you need for a better life.

USA Report:   I am back home in the states.  It is great to be here.  I have met a lot of great people in Ireland ( missing you already ), but it is so nice to be home.   Thanksgiving was wonderful.  My wife cooked a huge dinner.  Turkey with all the trimmings, all the family have been around.  It has been great.   I managed to watch the Rugby World Cup Final on a satelite pay-per-view broadcast.  I know Ireland is in mourning over England winning.  Sorry.  But now my attention can turn to American Football.  I am back in the offices working each day and I am enjoying seeing everyone.

Health Tip:  Tis the season.  Chestnuts are high in potassium which can help lower blood pressure.  280 calories per serving for your energy needs.  Only 2.5 grams of fat per serving. 5 grams of dietary fiber to aid, well, you know.  And 26mg of Vitamin C to help the immune system.

Fact of the Month:  The maximum number of minutes a couple should shop together is 72.   After 1 hour and 12 minutes, the average male reaches his boredom threshold and arguments start flaring.  Females can last an extra 28 minutes.  Researchers say that this is because men are more decisive shoppers.  The women are "gatherers" who are intent on bargain hunting.

Movie Review:  I just watched Bad Santa and thought it was a riot.  Don't even think about bringing kids to this one, I don't even know how they got them to act in it.  Maybe they made them wear ear plugs.  Kill Bill  was very good.  I thought it was a fun movie, even though it wasn't meant to be.  Violent and bloody.   Intolerable Cruelty with George Clooney and Zeta- Jones was hysterical and In the Cut with Meg Ryan minus clothing was watchable, minus her clothing.

That's all for this month.  E-mail me with any comments or concerns.

Happy Holidays!!!!
