Dear Practice Members:
This month I would like to depart from my typical 3 paragraph rant. Instead I would like to honor a chiropractic statesman who has done much in his long and still illustrious career to teach chiropractic principles to the general public and the chiropractic community. I offer to you varied quotes from Dr. Reggie Gold.
"Its not normal to be average."-1987
"Drugs don't have side effects. Its that the effects of drugs are unpredictable."-1987
"Some people's minds are like the pupil of the eye. The more light that shines in, the more they close."-1987
"A chiropractic adjustment always brings about positive changes. The mistake comes when we pretend to know what those changes are."-1991
"If ragweed pollen caused hay fever we would all have hay fever."- 1972
"No doctor anywhere ever cured anybody of anything." -1972
"Every man, woman and child regardless what disease he or she has or doesn't have, needs a good supply. Without it you haven't a hope in the world of staying healthy."-1972
"I see people going to the chiropractor to get well and leaving their spouse or kids home to get sick."-1986
On waiting for symptoms, "There are people dropping dead today who never did before."
-1970
"What you say is not important, what the person hears is."-1975
"The most damaging lie is that freedom of symptoms means health."-1975
"The reason for seeing a chiropractor is so that you won't be less than you should be due to vertebral subluxation."
Thanks Reggie!!
Health Tip of the Week: Laughter is an important part of being happy and healthy. Laughing should be a part of every day. I will help you by doing my part.
Q: What goes clip-clop, clip-clop, bang, clip-clop, clip-clop?
A: A Donegal drive by shooting. ( Americans, substitute Amish for Donegal)
A man dies and appears at the pearly gates. "Have you ever done a good deed?" asks St. Peter. "Sure one time I came across a gang of bikers threatening a women, I walked up the leader and punched him in the face, kicked his bike over and told him to leave the girl alone or he'd answer to me." "That was brave of you," says St. Peter. "When did this happen?" "About 2 seconds ago."
Two boys got their report cards and were shocked to find they had both failed sex education. "I can't believe I failed sex ed, my dads gonna kill me." said the first boy. "I know," says the other. "I'm so mad I could kick Mrs. Wilson in the Nuts."
(sorry about the last one)
Movie Review: The Matrix Reloaded. If you didn't see the first one, either rent it or forget this one. The sequel was a good movie. I can see how 20 years from now it will be remembered as the Star Wars for computer geeks. I liked it. Anger Management. I am a sucker for an Adam Sandler movie. So, I thought with Jack Nicholson, this would be a riot. It actually was a very dark comedy that didn't lighten up until the end. Thankfully it ended well. The last 15 minutes saved the movie and made me give it a thumbs up.
Pub Review: I took a ferry ride on the largest ferry in the world, 11 decks, casino, 4 restaurants, lounge with live entertainment, movie theater and went to Wales. It only cost around 20 dollars round trip. I went to a Pub in Holyhead, Wales called the Boston Pub. I had some hand-pumped, room temperature Bitter beer. It was great. It washed down my steak and ale pie with chips and vinegar. I took the high speed ferry back and watched another Adam Sandler movie on the way home. The trip home was more than half the time of the trip out.
Church Review: I haven't been to a different church this month, but I passed one last week that was calling out to me, St. Mary's Immaculate Church of Refuge for Sinners. A Catholic church, notice the guilt in the title.
That is all for this month. Any comments or questions please e-mail me.
